General emigration list
Moving! So many things to arrange, and making checklists should not be overlooked. The checklist below provides an overview of the documents you need for your emigration. Each destination has different regulations and requirements. Check well in advance whether you have all the necessary papers. Verify them again before departure to ensure your emigration goes smoothly.
- Passport/driver’s license (check validity)
- Visa
- International vaccination booklet (consider the required vaccination period before departure)
- Travel documents/travel insurance
- Deregistration from the municipality and/or immigration authorities
- Extract from the population register
- Marriage certificate
- Health statement from your GP including details about yourself and your family
- Other medical records (dentist, specialists)
- Health certificate and vaccination records for pets
- Employment contract or employer’s statement from your (future) employer
- Original diplomas (certificates with certified translations; also make copies and ship them separately from the originals)
- (For school-aged children) a statement from the school principal regarding the type of education, classes attended, and results
- Church documents (baptism certificates, etc.)
- Extra passport photos
- Keys and spare keys
- Passports for your pets
